HOW HARD TO CHANGE STI RA CAMBELT ???????
Hi to all i would like some advise on changing my cambelt on my 1995 sti type ra im pretty mechanically minded and do most of the work on my car myself but i was wounding on is it easy to change the cambelt as i have never do one on a subaru and it is due one any do's and don't i should no about or is it better to go to a garge ive got the new cambelt and new tenioner ready any help would be greatful many thanks gav

fairly easy..
compress the tensioner slowly in an upright position..
when refitting the bottom left idler goes on last
depending on mileage worth considering doing the crank seal

I did mine a couple of months ago.
The pics above show the OE belt with the marks already on the belt. This helps alot.
Also, don't panic when the cams on the OS move when the old belt comes off. I thought I had broken something when they spun round. The manual from Subaru says don't move the cams at all to avoid damage to the engine.
Last thing, check everything carefully when refitting. Whatever you do, don't fit everything and then find the washer that should be behind the tesioner (MY98 that is) on the floor and have to do it again!! What a numpty I was!!
