Default Sports Cat

Hi,

Thinking of getting the afterburner decat centre section (resonated) and ninja downpipe fast flow cat.

My car is a 1998 Terzo otherwise unmodified apart from racebox back box.

Was just wondering how much extra power this might give me?

And sorry if this is a silly question but is a remap required/necessary after this?? (not really going to try and increase the power much after this as next is bodywork, suspension and brakes etc and unfortunatly still have not won the lottery )

Cheers all

I've had a UK MY98 with a decat downpipe. But I kept the CATted centre section in place so could pass the MOT. The decat downpipe gave a bit more rumble and you could hear the turbo spool up much more clearly. Personally, I'd do this and save some money - you'll release some extra power.

I doubt very much that a sports cat and a free flow centre section would release any more power that would be noticeable.

Also, no need for a remap in my opinion.

Thanks for that.

So the centre decat will give no probs on the MOT? ive read a few confliciting posts on the issue now with people saying you should keep the one in the downpipe in?

All I can say is that my UK car (also a MY98) definitely had a decat downpipe and the standard cat in the centre section and I had it MOTed two times by different people without any problems.

note: the jap cars don't have a cat in the centre section as standard so they'll never pass with a decat downpipe. I think this is where the confusion comes from.

I've have that exhaust set up on a UK MY99 (no remap) with a K&N. Don't know the power output but it feel a lot more responsive. Don't have any problems with the MOT, it's had two test and an emissions check just after fitting.
Paul.

The need for remap is debateable (although the tuners recommend it). However, you won't be releasing the potential of your sports cat if you don't remap (big style).

My bug went from 215bhp to 273bhp with part decat and remap.
