Is it the up pipe that has the CAT in it, thebit that goes from the bottom of the turbo down to near the gearbox area ?
any pics of what i need to buy anyone ?
im hoping i wont need to remap the car if i fit a decat, it has a standard air filter, dump valve, aftermarket exhaust (HKS Backbox with what looks like stainless steel from the gearbox area back to backbox)
cheers

2 cats in the car one in the downpipe as mentioned get a 3" downpipe from someone reputable. Also a cat pipe connected to this then you will have the HKs attached to this by the sounds of it. Best is to do as many mods as you can before you remap it then you will get the best from them, ran mine without a map for a while totally decatted but its wise to get it remapped ASAP

That would be a very good choice.
Yes, just one cat in the downpipe for imports, another in the centre section if its a EU model
And you can get a remap for a lot less than 750 on your car, even more value is a universal scoobyECU type one if a decat and filter is as far as you want to go (for a while!!)
Scott.T who has posted on this thread is well worth talking to ECU wise

Not the H&S ones.
The downpipe will have a thread for the lambda sensor, but yours is located in the headers. So you will have to buy a M18x1.5 bung to plug the hole. A quick fix is to use a Pinto spark plug, its the same thread size.
The downpipe you remove will have a wire coming out of it, just trace it bact to the connector and unplug it, there won't be any error code etc - its the 'cat on fire' temp sensor so it won'r be needed anymore.
That about it, other than if you want you can move the lambda sensor from your headers to the downpipe and put the bung in the headers, bur be warned the only reason for doing this is for longevity reasons - but you run the risk of breaking the sensor upon removal! IME its best to leave it, then once it needs replacing put the new sensor in the downpipe.

think the "bulge" in your mid pipe is just a resonator & not a CAT, my95 imports definately only have 1 CAT & its in the downpipe..
2nd the vote for a scoobyecu or ESL postal chip ( basically the same thing ) when decattin makes a huge difference for less than a couple of hundred squids
no doubt not a good as a real ECU & remap but a fraction of the cost...

you wll be better off with the 3 inch now as unfortunately you are on the slippery slope that is scoob tuning and you will only end up changing a 2.5 later on!!
