Ive recently replaced my downpipe - (there is a cat there) & I opted for a sports cat. I no longer have my second cat (the one that joins the mid section). I also have uprated headers. Just need the $$$$ for a remap now

On a standard car :-
Headers feed into - can be ported for better spool-up and torque
One cat in the up-pipe - can break under lots of boost - throw away !
One cat in the down-pipe - replace with a 100 cell Sports cat = pass MOT
One cat in middle section - throw away !

HTH

P.S. Don't know how much the up-pipe affects final bhp....

Cat in uppipe..... porting headers is where material is removed from the headers to match the exhaust ports from the head, normally there is a step which restricts the flow, also can match up and smooth the inner sections where the headers can be split

If it is a wrx it has a cat in the uppipe that runs from the headers also called exhaust manifold to the exhaust wheel of the turbo.
Getting shot of the uppie with the cat in it will give more power.
A guy on here specialises in porting the headers and supplying a specially designed uppie matched to the headers. Give him a PM for more info harvey is the user name.

Yep ! it's the licence paid bit.... you only pay for the labour for a re-re-map, and maybe a "bit" on top.... i.e from £350 (upwards !)
