Default Weird revving problem when flooring it :-(

Basically, when I'm cruising in 4th / 5th gear on the motorway and then floor it to overtake someone its almost as if I am putting my foot on the clutch for a second or two and then releasing it. The revs increase to almost redline and then fall back and then the car starts to accelerate. This is only noticeable in 4th and 5th. If it occurs at 1,2,3 it isn't noticeable, at least not yet!!

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I have a 1996 Jap import STi wagon if this helps. I am new hear and only have my scooby a few months so any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Antonie

although im no scooby expert, that sounds like a classic "your clutch is on its way out" description.

About 150-200 quid for the clutch, then what ever the garage charges for about 4 hours labour which is how long it takes to change a clutch on scoobies.

I suggest you do it properly and get an Exedy organic clutch fitted though, especially if you are/thinking of running more power.

Give David at Api a ring. Tell him Ns04 says hi

About £400 fitted for an Excedy, API are good if your local, asperformance up north are a little cheaper...
