How tight should aircon/alt belts be?

How tight should aircon/alt belts be?
Whats the correct method of gauging the correct tension of these belts?
Is it the 90 deg twist on the longest length?
Have a new set to fit as I think mine are on the way out and slipping?
MY98 WRX btw.
