my friends scooby has developed a knocking sound from the engine any ideas. its done 88,000miles.

 

might be a spanner he 4got to take out.
if it was me thats what id be hopen for.

 

There's so many things it could be, You need to give us a bit more info than that, ie does it do it all the time? Hot or cold? Where about on the engine (if known) Power loss? Does the engine still run sweet?

Hi the engine noise seems to us to be bottom end. any ideas on how much that would cost. il try and get more info on it

 

check the sparkplugs are done up, mine were loose & I was convinced it was the bottom end.

Prices for a rebuild vary from place to place, but API are probably the most recommended (although I haven't used them due to my location)

If the bottom end has gone, and that's a big IF! You're looking at more like 2.5-3k for a proper job on a full rebuild.
