Buying a 2001 2.0WRX Wagon ?
Guys,
I'm considering buying a 2001 2.0 WRX with 100K on the clock, standard UK car with history.
Should I be concerned about the mileage ? Any particular things to check before taking the plunge ?
What mpg can I expect with mixed driving ?
What's an RB5 please - I keep reading about their engines breaking ??
Many thanks,
John

RB5 - excellent classic special edition, nothing to do with yours so dont worry about it.
Find out as much as you can about history, any upgrades should have been done by a specialist.
Check that all services have been done, especially major ones - 30, 50, 60.
Watch for check engine light, slipping clutch, make sure you can test it from cold. Once warm, check it pulls cleanly and really picks up from 3.5k revs, smooth to the red line.
Do all the usual stuff like hpi check, make sure it tracks straight, even at those miles a well maintained one should feel tight suspension wise.
Get it checked out by someone who knows these if you can.
Dont pay too much for it - guess this is worth about 4k? Others on here can probably give a better idea.
Good luck!
