Please help technical experts.......

After a short trip (20miles) I tried to restart my 94 WRX import but noticed the bottom red lights remained on in the dash including the engine check light.

I tried to fire it up but it was just turning over. I then left it for an hour came back turned the igntion on and red lights including engine check light remained but it started ok. I then drove home and switched the engine off.

Can anybody confirm if this sounds like crankshaft sensor fail as the fans were not running on the restart so I dont think it could be the temperature sensor

The car was also in for an mot today which passed but the emissions needed sorting if you catch my drift so im wondering if this could be linked?

PS first time its happened.

check the stored error codes

Simon, checked for stored error codes but got a continuos flash. I should mention that ECU has been remapped with an ESL custom map. Would this make a difference and I can do an ECU reset?

yes works like OE

sounds like crank sensor.. try removing and cleaning it
