Default V7 Sti PPP boost upgrade

Can anyone give me some pointers as to what needs to be done to get some cheap bhp.I was thinking of possibly raising the boost pressure. A few questions with this in mind.1firstly is it worth it ? secondly how do I do it ? Thirdly is it safe to do without putting to much strain on the rest of the motor ? and fourth what would a "sensible" level of boost be ?
I am currently running in the region of 1.1bar boost, thats standard I believe.
Please answer in leymans terms as Im just starting down the very dark and long tuning road and dont know much yet.
Thanks

You'll need a remap to increase the boost presure safely and gain the most power. It's called ECUTEK and there are plenty on here that can do it - Powerstation, Bob Rawle, Andy Forrest, Pat Hebourn, Zen Performance etc etc

You've got a decat which will help, you probably don't need any more mods to reach 330-340 bhp.

Your looking at about £550 + VAT for a remap...not too cheap, but the only way to increase boost safely.

Cheers

You can turn up the boost.... but who's going to turn up the fuel ?
And maybe retard/advance the ignition ?

Too easy to get greedy and melt it, in the long run re-map saves you a re-build.

DunxC

P.S. Someone will come on and claim 2 bar and 500 bhp from a Dawes device

Trying to modify a sophisticated machine like an Impreza by tweaking bits of it is like taking Kelly Brook to Mac D's then back to your caravan on a night out. She's got a great motor, superb suspension, and a chassis to die for. Show the lady some respect!

Cheers guys for your input.
Is ECUTEC a type of remap or the company that does it ?
Looks as though I'm gonna have to save some pennies up,otherwise i'll end up with something like Dawn French instead of Kelly Brook

So it depends on who actually does the remap ?.
2 different tuners using the same software ie. ecutec ,may get different results on the same car ?
So if thats true its best to go with a recommended tuner and not just anybody who uses ecutec software ?
