WRX MPG?

WRX MPG?
Hi guys,
I have had a search in this forum and couldn't find an answer but i'm sure this would have been discussed before. What MPG am I likely to get on the 2004 2.0 WRX AWD Turbo I am thinking of purchasing. I see the specs on Parkers (Facts & Figures - Parker's) and various other sites say it gets 30 MPG. How accurate is this?
Thanks

I think i get ~25mpg. about 250 miles out of ~3/4 of a tank thats when i fill up anyway
(although i never drive on boost in the mornings and rarely on the way home... too much traffic!)

Thanks Kris,
I was thinking 30 MPG was perhaps too economical considering the WRX performance although any less than 30 MPG may unfortunately rule it out for me as i'm doing around 80 miles per day. Is your WRX standard and would 25 MPG be under normal (law-abiding ) driving? Would a re-map improve economy? Perhaps i'm clutching at straws here but I really want a Scooby
Thanks

You don't buy a Scooby for fuel economy mate

sjw pretty much nailed it on the head mate. your not gonna get great figures from a car like this.
While i hear a remap could help the figures im not sure you would regulary get above 30mpg. I personally have no experience of this and my car is standard.
I hardly ever put my foot down, like i say the traffic is too bad in the morning for me to play so on a normal 8 mile drive to work i go 50mph max, maybe a little faster on way home. 80 miles a day i would say your looking at filling up every 3 days if your lucky. Motorway miles should help if your doing that kinda driving but as soon as you try and enjoy the car its gonna start to hurt your wallet mate.
Ive been very light-footed so i can work out what i will get on a normal weekly trip so i think if i pushed it i could get 280-300 out of a tank but that is really pushing it.
BTW, this is using v-power so its not cheap fuel either

Thanks for the replies guys. I think having to really watch my right foot when driving a Scooby for 80 miles per day would compromise the enjoyment too much - no point buying a car like this if I can't drive it properly I think I might look into buying a cheap diesel for the daily commute and having the WRX for playtime. Need to see if this would work out much cheaper than the £4500 annual fuel bill that I would get from the Scooby as my daily driver.
Thanks

Yeah a scooby is a waste of time if you want good mpg, they also cost a lot to maintain and insurance isnt the cheapest . I would buy one as a toy thing ang get the diesel ora small petrol to commute in, much more of a sensible option.

WRX MPG
I worked mine out the other day. I reckon I get about 22mpg but I only have a short journey back and forward to work (about 4 miles each way) up the A34 and I do thrape it when I'm first at the lights. Some weekend miles also. Probably would get more if I did a longer journey to work.
Bit depressing especially with the way fuel prices are but hey, it's an impreza at the end of the day, its not supposed to be economical!!!

I drive a WRX 2.0 litre turbo on a 53 plate and on a full tank of juice i get around 225 miles out of her. As said before sometimes i take it easy other times i have some fun and put my foot down but either way it dont make to much difference to the MPG.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm glad I asked here for genuine replies; I received a call from the dealer this afternoon who is selling the WRX - he said it's possible to get up to 36 MPG with an average of 28-32 MPG

To be honest i drive mine 60 miles a day spread between the motorway and sitting in traffic and i get 300 miles to 50 litres of fuel. It was the same before the remap too.
according to MPG calculator UK miles per Gallon - calculate MPG though that is still almost 28mpg and on a run down the A1 to Yorkshire last week i had 330 or almost 30mpg showing so it can be done. Goes down a lot when you give it the beans though!

Mine has the PPP so I'm not sure if that makes a difference but the best I've had so far is 23mpg on Tesco99 (I've not had less than 20). But that doesn't include any motorway driving, only A and B road with fairly short journeys of under 15 miles.
I'm happy with this considering the performance but it still niggles me when having a blast and I actually see the needle dropping like a stone

I once did a months test going to work everyday in the scoob. It's around 50 mile round trip, mostly motorway.
The most economical speed in my MY98 WRX is 80MPH (on the speedo, 73 vi GPS)
Off boost ALL the time and I got 26-27 MPG. Mine is modified to a certain extent.
This was with new ign parts (leads and plugs), a clean air filter and a new working O2 sensor.
Hope this helps.
Wayne.
