Latley been having trouble with my scooby (a WRX on a 53 plate) starting in these cold, wet mornings so i took her to the garage for a diagnostic test and the mechanic said the battery was f**ked, he orderd me a new one and it cost 68 pound inc VAT. Just wonderd if this was about the right price for a bat and how long do they last for.

My original Subaru battery lasted 8yrs! I just purchased one for my UK Spec impreza and that cost me £52 inc. I did shop around a bit so I guess yours was a little dear but not extortionate. Mind you I don't suppose the new one will last 8yrs, although its guaranteed for 3yrs

Nice one thanks for the info, it was just a few work mates said it should have been 40 punds for the batt, 30 pound difference could have been 30 pounds more go go juice.

When I had my 53WRX battery replaced under warranty they put in a 60, I think it was a 45 before. The MY06 STi I have now is a 60 and due to weekend use it has finally started flatting. I have a B&Decker jump starter on a solar trickle feed for when I don't get out in it every week. This weather and lack of use does kill off batteries, in most newer cars (scoobs) the reason for battery problems seems to be lack of use during the week.
