this is my first post and I'm not sure if this is the right place, so if any Mod wants to move this thread, go ahead

I've just bought an 02 plate Impreza GX Sport and there's an odd oscillating noise that comes in at about 30mph and gets higher in pitch as you go through 40-50. It's not engine as its speed related.

It's most noticable on old smooth tarmac, new rougher surfaces don't seem to provoke it (or is the extra road noise masking?).

Could it be tyres, or something more sinister...

Just to add:

My new pride and joy has done 61K and has a service history up to the 36K point. I think it has been serviced recently as the oil is clean.

I've had the cam belt changed as a precaution and the garage has given the car a good checking over and can find no problems.

Am I worrying over nothing - cheap tyres? (WANLI 196x60xR15)
