cooling for turbo
sorry guys, dont know exactly wot its called. got a 94 wrx. got problem with bit that feeds air onto the turbo from bonnet scoop. it vibrates cos its split round couple of bolts, can it just be removed or is it really needed to keep turbo coolish. hope u's know wot im goin on about, if not i'll take pic. thanks.

i'm sure on my mate's old UK spec early classic it didn't have one and it was alright.
I don't see how it would matter if you removed it as it wil still get air from the scoop

Later cars have a solid shield over the top, to prevent the heat from the turbo roasting other parts, however I know of lots of cars running without any shield at all with no problems...
