Default 2.5L Crank sizes

Please could someone tell me if there is a difference between the EJ25 crank
and EJ257 crank?

i may stand corrected but i think that one is from a weaker Forrester motor and the other is from a stronger STi motor. They aren't the same strength and will handle boost differently.

The EJ25 is a phase one crank with the thrust bearing location in the centre.
The EJ257 is a phase 2 crank with the thrust bearing at the rear.

Other than that I don't think there is any difference according to the boys over on 22B

It depends on the year of the EJ25 crank. Early one cranks have 48mm big end journals, requiring different rods, where as the later phase two versions are 52mm, the same as the 2.0lt cranks.
