Definitely don't overwrap it. Just a slight overlap as you go round, on the edge. If you've got extra, either wrap further down (not much point going beyond the engine bay area), or wrap your headers or up-pipe where you'll get more benefit from it.

I am thinking of getting a decat downpipe at some point and was talking to the guys at triton regarding heat wrap. There is a product on the market by demon tweeks which is a paint on ceramic paint that keeps heat in up to 1000 degrees and only costs 26 quid.

That stuff's been around for ages. I never got the impression that it was much of a thermal barrier, more a cosmetic thing so your exhaust manifold doesn't end up looking like a pile of rusty scrap. I could well be wrong though. Put it this way - my whole system from headers to downpipe are wrapped and I can drive straight into my garage after a run, onto some ramps, and straight away work under the engine, even touch the headers and no burns. I doubt I'd trust a thin coat of paint to insulate the same way.
