Default Loss of power / misfire

Guys,

On the way home tonight as I was driving away from a roundabout my bugeye wrx lost complete power. To the point I had to put full throttle on just to pull away and I mean a very slow pull away!

Everytime I slowed down the car wanted to stall and the engine sounded very rough similar to a misfire. I managed to get it home 2 miles drive and I noticed there was a burning oil type smell.

Anyone else had similar probs? Could it be coils, maf etc?

My last question is that I bought the car from a dealer just over 2 months ago and I know the car comes with standard trade 3 month warranty. Do you think it would cover such probs? Maybe I should find out the prob then contact them?

Cheers

definitely worthwhile going into see them. I`m sure it wouldn`t take them long to diagnose a fault like that

Just doing a search and it seems I have the symptoms of the cambelt tensioner being shagged.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Tensioners are very important to scoob engines!

I hope its not your tensioner, cos even if you got away without damaging something else, a new belt and tensioner fitted will be about 300-350 quid!

Just had mine done at scoobyclinic last wednesday!

How many miles has she done, is she due a cambelt?

As I had thought the cambelt tensioner has had it. I just hope it has not caused any/much damage.
