Classic STI engine into a UK 1995 classic
Hi
I am wondering if a classic STI engine will fit into my MY95 Turbo 2000 using all my original ancilaries etc. What happens with regards to the ecu etc can i keep everything and get it remapped so that it will rev higher as i believe the STI had solid lifters and so could rev to 8k? I would be fitting this myself with a friend just wondering on the compatibility before i go searching for a STI engine

I havnt bought one yet JGM but if i do what year does it need to be same as mine is now? I take it it has to be a STI with coilpacks on the side of the block and not on ithe inlet manifold. Also would a STI engine be able to handle mmore power than my current uk engine ?

92~98 will fit with your inlet manifold and your coilpacks..
the 97~98 engine is better than the earlier sti engine which really wouldn't be a big step up.
97 STi3 engine being the best of that selection but rare

jolly: which of the classic gc8 motor is the best anywy? i know some will say the earlier model which has the close deck block but some says the v3 cams has the highest lift in duration? i know as the model progress its suppose to gets better?

From: 10.68 QT mile in 2007 2.33 Type R ** Current 2002 Spec C 2.33 Track prepped.
The early closed deck "blocks are stronger" but the pistons and rods can suffer the same fait as any other early model STI/WRX

v3 heads are better than the earlier..
unless you are changing the internals and pushing it to beyond 500bhp then the closed deck is unnecessary.. seen 504bhp out of an open deck block which uprated pistons and rods which has lasted the test of time and hard track use.
V5 heads are better still but won't fit with your car

So am i just as better off rebuilding my Uk classic with Forged rods/pistons? Or should i get a 1992-1996 sti engine and then forge that up? Decisions decisions. What do you reckon JGM as im hoping to be running a AF td05 20g so i know that a standard uk will not last long at this power around 370 hp. Not sure which way to go about it whether to kill this engine then get a sti and rebuild or rebuild this now while its running great. Which way would be best?
