Mot woes
Car failed mot the other day on excessive carbon monoxide content at idle
Car is a '94 wrx running full decat exhaust.Going to stick a catted down pipe on and try again,if it still fails what other options do i have?
Running a prova chipped ecu(higher boost and advanced ignition)loads of booster obviously, the car has done around 175000 miles without as far as i know and previous owner know a rebuild of any description. It has been running that chip for years without any probs,it doesn't burn oil but you can smell the emissions..that lovely vpower & booster aroma,I fear the engine may be requiring a rebuild just due to sheer mileage rather than a specific part failing.
What if were to stick a standard ecu on(Z4 i think)would this make a differenca to carbon monoxide content.
cheers,Col

Didn't get readings on the MOT refusal form(VT30),
all it says is :3 attempts each saying
Exhaust emission carbon monoxide content at idle excessive
Just spoken to the Guy that done the MOT and he's adamant it comes under the March '93 deadline for cat requirement now I thought it was july '95 .
His parting shot was "anyway it would have failed a basic test anyway"

If it would have failed the basic test then fair enough (but i always get the printouts for my cars emissions but then the garage i use i'm very friendly with).
the lambda sensor may be the problem.
You could always find a garage that deals with imports on a regular basis.
