Remove fuel gauge/pump wiring plug.
Remove the ring of nut's 8mm socket required.
Lift the small bracket away from the 2 studs at the rear edge.
Gently lift out the fuel sender/pump unit, be careful as you need to twist turn to enable the float etc to be removed without damaging it.
It is fairly easy to do, just take your time and be careful when re fitting to ensure the rubber gasket is seated correctly

If you are capable with a spanner then it's not hard, I done mine last week (MY03 WRX) and although it was a bit more involved than I had been led to believe it was a lot less hassle/fiddly than changing the plugs!
Remove rear seat bench, 2 bolts, and then remove the 4 that hold the rear seat upright down, 1 on each side and 2 in the middle. Rear backrest then just lifts straight up and out.
Take out the carpet from boot and you should see the oval cover (drivers side). Unclip the multiplug from the pump and fire up the car to de-pressurise the fuel line to save on excess spillage. Once done open up the fuel filler cap and disconnect the battery - better be safe than sorry!
Remove all the rubber hoses and then all the small nuts - after this you should be able to lift out the whole unit, which needs a twist or two to get it out from the hole.
Changing over for a new Walbro pump is straight forward, I believe it's best to keep the existing "sock" fuel filter and you will have to cut the new hose to length, but other than that it's all plug and play.
Fitting is exact reverse and don't connect the battery back up until you have connected all of the hoses and the multiplug, last thing you want is a spark when you connect the plug back together!
Have got a few pics and will try to add them tomorrow some time as they are on my phone and cable is at work.
Oh, and remember that there will still be fuel in the pump and the long pipe connected to it, I did when I turned it all upside down!!!
