Default Roll cage fitting

Anyone fitted a full cage? I know the rear drivers door and seats need to come out. Does the rear section go in through the front or back door opening?

Main issue is insurance !

Ask them first !

They don't like 'em.

Not really an issue it only costs me 350 quid a year on limited miles, I'm sure it won't add much more to that amount......I hope

Does it matter? Presumably if you're fitting a cage then it'll be a competition car and you'll be fitting competition seats/harnesses and a whole lot of other stuff besides. When you try to get it in you'll soon find out.

Whats all this crap about insurance not liking it?
When I fitted mine and declared it my insurance didnt alter.

I have an OMP 6 point bolt in cage in mine.

Its a dash out job and you weld plates to the floor and the sills. The cage then bolts to these plates.the cage comes in two halves. (front and rear)

Both halves had to go in through the rear doors but I didnt need to take any doors off.

If I was doing it again I'd either get a proper weld in cage or a better quality dash dodging bolt in.

Cheers

Daz

The safety devices 6 point that i have has a one piece rear section which needs front seats out and removal of rear door!!!

Not fitted yet but will be starting the it shortly......what thickness of metal are you using for the backing plates?
Also not sure about the front legs that bolt down onto floor/sill at front.....do i need to plate these also???

Fitted this one into my old rally car, its a full monte weld in.

The 6 point bolt in ones only offer an added degree of safety, if your after strength as well it reall needs to be a multipont weld in and thats lots of work trust me.......

Bit like the one I fitted in my Chevette rally car, I added seat mounts as well which give a solid base for the seats. Lots of welding and painting - like you say lots of work.
