Default worth painting heat wrapted headers?

am wraping my gt-spec headers with this stuff
Exhaust Wrap Xtreme & Xskin

the xtreme wrap.

is it worth putting some VHT paint over the top of it, or just keep to the wrap only.

any + or - of paintion over the top of the wrap?

thanks
ian

It is woth wrapping IMHO. Not really to insulate anymore but it will prevent to heatwrap from absorbing as much moisture.

I wrapped and painted mine nearly 2yrs ago and IMHO the paint does help..

It prevents that wet dog smell you'll get every time they get wet and also add an extra seal to the wrapping, preventing it fraying prematurely.

For what it takes (time/money) it finishes the job off nicely..

Well yes when the car is stool overnight when it raining or for a long period of time.
It does burn off fairly rapidly once up to temp but still I would put a couple of layers of paint on there.

I wouldn't paint them, the smell of the paint takes A LONG time to subside, and is really quite vomit inducing! Much much worse than the shaggy dog smell you get for a minute or so after starting the car with damp ex wrap.

On 2 types of wrap I have used, painting it resulted in it going brittle and falling off.

Mine now has unpainted wrap and it's fine. No problems with moisture at all.
