Question NPS and misfire..?

Can a faulty neutral position sensor actually cause a misfire or do they just log as misfire..?

Question

Hmmm..

06 spec C (mapped usual mods) @ ~380 of each (not my car BTW..

Right symptoms:
  • Random flashing CEL, usually during hard driving.
  • Sometimes results in constant CEL where car drives in a sort of limp home 0.6bar mode. Usually resolves after restart.
  • Speedo also stopped working, and continues not to (coincidence..?)
Quite unpredictable. Typically, after an evening of it happening virtually all the time we went out the next day (extremely hard run) to try and log it. You guessed, it never happened..! In fact no error logs, historic or not.)

Changed plugs, no effect.

The only other thing is, it always happens at night when it's damp/wet..?

Last time it happened, going into neutral cleared the CEL, hence my Q about the NPS.

Thoughts..?

Doesn't it actually turn the AVCS on/off as it rattles about ?

Just a thorght, when i fitted my boost gauge i unwittingly dislodged the speedo cable, as i went down the road it fell out of the back of the speedo head and put my car into limp mode, cel as well! Might be worth checking

That sounds plausible. Would a faulty speedo converter result in ths same..?
