Default 1994 WRX vs 1994 STI

hi guys, i have just purchased a 1994 sti can anybody tell me the difference between a 1994 wrx and a 1994 sti.

i.e - Turbo, Gearbox, Weight are they the same.

i have read that this is a STI and not a WRX-STI, i also read that the sti has a shorter gearbox and bigger turbo but dont know if that includes my sti

thanks guys David

This STI is modified from a production wrx with slightly more power

You could have a look here for codes of engine and gearbox

Which Car is a WRX STi

or speak to a guy on here called GC8 as he knows a lot about them.

My brother has a 1994 sti wagon, I have a 1994 WRX. The sti with just a decat (no remap) is as quick as my 1994 WRX with a decat, 1.1bar chip and FMIC. The gear lever is a short shifter but the ratio's are the same as my WRX. Suspension also feels firmer than my WRX did stock (but my WRX suspension was shot when I first got it). Other than that the intercooler on the sti is slightly different (alloy) and it has the water spray. Interior is better on the sti. Certainly very nice cars if you have a clean example.

STi 1 runs a chipped ECU pushing power to 255BHP from 240BHP. Quite high boost in the map but not great power considering.
Runs 14.87psi which is the highest of all the Pre96 cars, but on paper it's not the highest BHP.
