HIT THE FUEL CUT!!!!

Well, i got the Dawes device set up and was messing around with it, and for some reason couldnt boost more than 10psi!!!
It seemed like it came on faster but no matter how much i screwed down on the device, it never peaked more than that!
So here i am reading through the posts and come across one that talks about the little restrictor........HOLY CRAP!! how confusing are these posts on Dawes devices or bleed valves
So i go ahead an Re-insert the little restrictor in the wastegate pipe and off i go to work this morning!
Half way up the A5 i have to get past a car and i throttle up a little harder, the boost guage wizzes round to 18psi and BAM!!!! fuel cut! but holy hell was it fast!
so i back the thing off and now it sits at 14psi and peaks at just about 14.5psi if you floor it.
It certainly seems like its better, dont know what you guys think!
is this acceptable for a MY98 Uk spec, with 3" turbo back (no cat) induction and scoop, dawes and 99ron!

Are you still running the TD04? You`ll should be ok for a while. Mine hits about 20+psi (1.53bar peak) but thats with a change to a VF35 and re - map etc.
I hit boost cut the other day, its horrible!!

Like i said though it mustve peaked at 18psi and it was bloody fast!!!
Id be happy to drop back to 12psi, (.8bar) but surely the car is ok running 14.5psi??
Whats the fuel cut at? and someone else has said that running extra boost is bad as its lean, but i cant see it running lean unless i override the fuel cut and pump the boost up!!
So i need to know, 1: the standard boost these run at roughly
2: the fuel cut point pressure for this car.
Thanks!

changing the boost using a manual device is asking for problem, easiest way to pop your engine out there.
gte it mapped and then don't have to worry about it

upping the boost in this way doesn't adjust the fueling, and can cause the engine to go pop.
mates had one fitted when he bought it, ran it for a check on the rr and was puttoing out 20psi
, lets just say it was ripped off and the origional set up restored.
the fuel cut is there for a reason, just by passing it aint a good idea.
basicly you get what you pay for, pay pitance and you get rubbish.
before anyone says don't talk out your **** etc they are good. well they can be if there set up correctly but it ain as simple and looking at a boost gauage and twiddling the *** (if you'll excuse the phrase) till it looks right

Ok lets start by saying IM NOT RUNNING 20psi!!
Secondly, i have built race cars for years now, and was asking some simple questions.
thirdly, please tell me where in my post did i ask to bypass the fuel cut.
Needless to say, its Frikking impossible on here to get ANYONE to answer a few simple questions!!!

This is why i asked the questions. to get some ideas of peoples pressures they are running. Im not sure if the restrictor has been drilled out at all. Again what size should a standard one be?
14.5PSI is 1.0bar. is this standard for the UK model turbo non prodrive?
can anyone answer my second question on the fuel cut?
Is your ECU different being a prodrive?

Mine started off as a prodrive aswell, still with the TD04. Wasn`t running a boost controller but tweaked the actuator so it was peaking at about 13-14 psi but holding at 11psi.
Prodrive ECU is mapped by Prodrive and brings the power from 215 to 240BHP approx, torque goes up aswell and you get a better intercooler pipe, and a nice shiny exhaust, and a few other "creature comforts" if you wanna add them to the package
Cant tell you about fuel cut cos I neva hit it untill recently, and I neva wanna eva again
But as standard (Prodrive) the car boosted at about 10 - 11 psi peak ,from what I can remember before I tweaked it so it was less than a bar.
The normal standard car i think may have been running at around 8 - 9psi hence the difference in power.
Its not all the answers, but hope it helps

So a standard ran that low?
what is the fueling probs with running 11-12 psi? does the map sensor and the lambda not adjust the ecu to compensate?

Yeah i know where that is! we used to be round the corner, you probably saw us thrashing the **** out of the Hyundai rally cars every now and then!
Did take a couple of the Renault touring cars out on the V10 but they wernt road legal so didnt do that too often.
the Aston Martin drivers from Newport used to race us up the h3 when we tested the cars! Last ones i worked on were Alistair McRaes group B car.
holler at me when you all have a meet again!

Im guessing so, im comparing it with what im running at the moment so they are approximations. Running at the quoted psi and you MITE be ok, but im not really the best person to be asking about map sensors etc, but as Tidgy mentioned your running a bit of a risk by fiddling with it too much, and I agree. I only ran mine like that for about 6 weeks and then got Power FC mapped.
