Subaru Impreza chip upgrade ECU performance mod on eBay, also Chips, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Mar-08 12:53:03 GMT)
Can someone enlighten me as to whether these are a good idea? It all sounds good, and is reasonably priced, but its almost too good, unless it is that easy to get extra power!
I have a full decat exhaust and a blitz airfilter.
THanks Mike

Run away fast... There is no chip that will cover all imprezas, simple example, the wagon and saloon have different turbos, the wrx, sti and RA have different rev limits.. so no.
If you want to go down the chip route use a reputable supplier who will supply a chip for your make and model.. I have a polar performance chip from scott T on here and its been great.

Unless you know the map on the chip ,as jd5217 said, don't bother.
no idea what a 'stage 2 tuned impreza' is
Speak to Scott T at PolarPerformance for the chip he can supply and he can offer you customer support.
There are some people who don't like the idea of using chips to increase the power etc and prefer a remappable solution (APexi power fc,Simtek,ESL daughterboard etc)

tbhj its not the chip thats the problem, its the map on it, it needs tailoring to your car.
so if your having a chip fitted and then mapped to your car you should be fine.
no idea on how good unichips are

i know they are quite old, so are no doubt going to be bettered by others, but if it does its job then its ok. Its got a spura map on it at the min so its not going anywhere near the car until its fitted properly and mapped straight away. Mind you, the car runs like a bag of sh*t at the min so prob wont make much difference, lol. *joke*!!!!

Its got a Z4 ecu in there now, but at the minute its not running well at all, its only on 2 cylinders so until i get it right i wont be doing anything anyway. Its been off the road since Nov, but i am getting another ignitor for it, and am hoping that will solve the drama.

its not got the standard ecu in there, i think that went ***** up so i changed it for the z4, i still have it but i dont trust it, have had loadsa probs with the car, coil packs exploding, running on 2 cylinders. The ecu chucked 16 codes up originally, then i reset, went down to 12, then i changed THE ECU and had 1, the idle air solenoid, now i have changed that aswell so should be down to none.
Can the Z4 be mapped?? if so who by?

Early ECU's cannot be mapped. Speak to any of the mappers on here and they'll be able to supply a good chip that can be plugged into the ECU and matched to your car. An example here.

I was driving along one sunny day and i lost all power, well most of it, car wasnt responsive and was very juddery, i pulled over and discovered the coil pack had melted, so i took it home and parked up, it has been there since, i changed the coil pack, the second one blew up, literally. i am in the process of changing everything in the ignition line, the ecu, the ignitor and the coil/sparks.
So far i havent solved it, but i am waiting for a new ignitor. I was under the impression that the z4 was a suitable ecu upgrade for the wrx.
