well.... my 99 uk classic is approaching 137,000 miles (however only 67k on the engine - blown oil pump at 70k paid dividends to that). im whole heartedly planning on a bigger turbo (vf 28/30/34), walbro fuel pump and a rempa to see circa 280-300bhp.

as long as your car has been looked after, i dont see any harm personally in it. im going for it as i know my engines strong (touch wood) and i have a 2k old gearbox rebuild and new clutch.

just keep an eye out for the tell tale signs (which im sure someone else will point out).

again as long as your car isnt an abused dog (no offence intended, just a general statement), i think you should be ok. from what i gather uk engines have a tolerance of around 300bhp safely, same for the gearbox. any higher and againa it may be safe, but personally i believe your borderline the limtis for the internals and standard gearbox. there are howver members on here with well over 300bhp on standard uk internals, but i suppose it depends on your driving style. my drigins style is pretty relaxed, so 300bhp to me should be easy on the engine.

If its well looked after and everything is running fine then, in my opinion, there is no reason why not. A car with 60k on the clock yet never been looked after, serviced etc would be far riskier.

i have a 98 uk terzo which was mapped at 132,000 by paul blamire (zen performance ) it now has 156,000 and is still going strong .as people have said it has more to do with how the car has been looked after than how old it is.

the car made 285bhp and 290ft/lbs on the original tdo4

Mapping the car doesn't really give the engine a hard time, its the driving afterwards that does

Remapped mine soon after I had it @ 95k.

Run it for 2 years since - no problems at all

I did do the following before the remap though - service, MAF, clutch just to make sure.

boost gauge could be sensible, along with a walbro 255 fuel pump.

Should be absolutely fine. If you are really worried about your engine, have a chat to your choosen mapper who can map if for slightly lower boost and less aggressive timing, which will give the engine an easier life, but you will have a smaller performance improvement as a result.
