BUGEYE CEL

BUGEYE CEL
During a drive at the weekend, the CEL on my standard Bugeye WRX flashed 4 or 5 times, then stayed on permanently. This happened during overtaking on boost. I was about 150 miles from home, so took it fairly easy for the rest of the trip. The CEL is still on, but the car behaves as normal. I understand that you can't easily reset the CEL/ECU on Bugeyes, and was wondering if I had anyone could give me some advice?
I'm in Glasgow, so does anyone know of any independent specialists rather than having to go to main dealer?
Thanks
Dave

You will need an OBD11 fault code reader for the newage. This will read your codes for you and then once read it will clear them once the problem has been rectified.
You can go to the dealers and pay around £50 or you can buy one off ebay or even halfords for about £100 for a gunson reader although cheaper versions are avaliable.
To reset the ecu you will need the right software on a laptop as its not as simple as just pulling the battery off. But doubt you will need to reset the ecu. Hope this helps.

Hey Mate, I keep getting the CEL flashing and everytime I take it to subaru they say its nothing... mostly emissions its upset about... always happens rolling on and accelerating in 4th... grr..
Although once I had a missfire on cylinder 4... but thats never repeated its self..
Personally save your money and go see a garage and ask them to read it.. I am yet to pay for them reading about nothing interesting and resetting the code. Just tell them you will be back asap and you want it serviced soon .
If it helps I have found if you get it to flash again it will go away.. this is also possibly the most stupid advice as you really should get it to a garage and let a pro have a look asap.
Cheers
