Default Which engine oil do you put in your car?

Mobil, Castrol, Opie, Millers or silkolene?

15w40?
15w50?

The grades you quote are too thick for general use in an 05. You should be looking at a 5w/40, 10w/40 or maybe a 10w/50 in summer or if you regularly use full performance. For instance, Millers do 5w/40 and 10w/40 in full synthetic (CFS range) Silkolene do 5w/40 and 10w/50 in full synthetic.

as above really, i used magnatec last time, 10w 40, i used 5w 30 for a bit but it was too thin really, it got burnt. If you go too thick it will block up the cam followers, like it did on mine. I bought it with a blown engine, it just turned out that the oil was too thick.

RCMS put Silkolene 15w50 in mine all the time. The Pro-R oil.

So is '10w40 in full synthetic' best for long distance motorway driving on boost.

That's what is in mine at the moment with the thick end of 400bhp (Millers CFS)
