yep, a bit niggly to get the turbo pipe on at the same time as the inlet, but you'll get there I found it helped to lower the intercooler down almost into space, so that it clears the pipes at the back of the engine bay and then lift the front up and attach the dump valve hose (this is a little bit flexible). Then it's just a case of prodding the turbo hose and the manifold hose until you get it in place.

You'll likely need a different hose to connect from the inlet manifold to the intercooler exit. I believe it's 70mm internal diameter hose, but not sure. Alyn from AS Performance sorted mine out with next day delivery. API definitely have them also as I saw them lying on their display shelf when I was up there.

Your original brackets will fit also, no need for the STI ones as they're identical (i believe)

As said above bit fiddly the first time, but an easy mod to do, the right hand side bracket is the same, not sure about the left one though as the intercooler is quite a bit bigger.

Also dont forge to change the undertray for an STI item or a lot of the intercooler will have no air flow.

Good luck

Thinking of getting an sti cooler for my wrx. How much did it cost you and are you keeping the same wrx scoop?

I let my STI top mount go for a very reasonable price depending on condition they can be had from £150 to £250

I'm guessing that I need a top mount scoop as well. Just wanted to keep my car a little more stealth.

I think they're the same brackets between wrx and sti. At least the 03 off side bracket has two holes, one which fits the sti IC and one for the WRX.

Not neccessarily.
When I had my remap done I spoke to Andy F about my next stage plans which included an STi TMIC, he told me that I would need to get the correct STi undertray to ensure a proper seal around the i/c but that the standard WRX scoop was more than adequate for the job and only reason to replace would be for aesthetic reasons.

....regarding the mounts ..... I fitted an STI8 intercooler to my MY02 bugeye WRX with no problems - the standard mounts to come with two sets of holes, as Henrik mentions above. For the new IC you simply use the bigger set. And it was a bit$h to get it on with both sets of pipes fitting simultaneously - but it's just fiddly rather than impossible.

Just as a reference, this post has the part numbers for the STI8 tray and rubber strip: https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ml#post5447486

I'm wondering if it might be possible to just buy the strip and fit it to a blob eye WRX scoop. Would save 50+VAT, *and* the sti tray has to be modified anyway. I might whip my WRX tray off in the weekend and have a look at modifying it and what might be required.

Thanks for that mate. Just want to keep it looking all standard and give people a surprise.

i modded my wrx undertray to fit the sti8 tmic.few cuts and a bit of rubber and it has a great seal. its good for a temp fix but i am buying a sti one. so if your stuck for an sti one you can mod your own.
as said above sti8 fits fine onto a bugeye wrx.

What kind of rubber did you use? The only thing I can think of is window seal, but it doesn't come as wide as I'd need
