Default Modding heatshield after decat Downipe fitment

The turbo heatshield that is.
Been reading up on it and some people leave it off, but I want to put mine back on.
Any advice on where the standard heatshield needs trimming?
All of the posts I read had old, dead links on them.
Thanks, for an MY00.

I just cut the bottom half off mine, as it wouldn't fit over my new downpipe anyway.

Normally just to the side of the original hole..... it can be cut out, and then flared if you can be bothered.... or just bolted back on if not....

So does it only then use the two bolts that go on to the turbo bracket?
Both mine sheared off that bracket.

You could always fit a turbo jacket instead if it's the heat from the turbo you're worried about

i have only 2 bolts holding mine on one to the left side very low down by up pipe and top right. the others also sheared off then just cut about 2cm off the shield all along the curve over where it touches the down pipe where it bolts on to turbo as it has a wider neck. used dremmel thing and a few tiny cutting disks

Here's my one I just sold on Ebay.

This is one that was altered to fit a STi PPP by a dealership.
The area hitting the bellmouth is cut away with snips and a lip rolled up to make it smooth.
I found it also worked on a decat d/pipe.
It only needs 3 bolts to hold it in place.

haha i did my downpipe this weekend, bought a junior hacksaw £2.99 cut through it like butter, even the double folded bit at the top. But then stopped concentrating and snapped the blade whilst reaching for a mug of tea! Finished the job with metal snips.

I just used 2 bolts when putting back on, looked just like the picture from the last post!
