How Much power can a turbo 2000 engine block and internals take?
i have a '99 turbo 2000. within the next few months i may invest in some engine modifications. i haev a list of things in my head and i wont be able to afford all of them but it sprung to mind that the internals may not be able to take so much in a turbo 2000 block. so does any body know what power would be the highest possible whilst remaining reliable.
i apologize if this question has been asked before which im sure it has

How long is a piece of sting mate? Depends on so many factors; some of which may be beyond your control e.g. previous use of the car etc...
The top mappers seem to agree that even a humble UK spec turbo can take 400 bhp if its well looked after/driven and mapped with the right turbo and supporting mods. Keeping the boost at reasonable levels seems to crop up quite a lot in conversation.
At that level the gearbox is very likely to go first!
350 seems a sensible amount for a daily driver and gives the box some hope of surviving the kind of torque you'd be producing at that level.
Personally, I won't be pushing much higher than I've got now 340bhp without a rebuild with uprgraded internals: would go for a 2.5 block with a MD321T turbo, forged.......no, no, Ns04....you've spent enough. Leave it!!!!

The RA box is no stronger than any other box. I broke mine not longer after it was remapped and running 1.4 bar of boost and approx 330/310
You soon learn how to be more nicer to the box once you have removed it yourself and paid for a rebuild

personaly i'd replace the intercooler, soemone will reply in a min yelling you dont need it, top mount is capable of x bhp, but hot days they suffer, no two ways about it.
fuel pump would need doing to get to 340ish but injectors are fine
if you just want to remap to about 260 then fuel pump will be fine, if you run to front mount have it as well though

Depends on what power your going to, it's torque that kills the box. Last rolling road mine made 324/300 at 1.2 bar of boost. Run these sort of figures and the box should be fine - and you have cracking ratio's in the RA box. Don't forget the 6 speed is heavier than the 5.

You guys are all b*stards...you're making me want more power now!
Honestly didnt realise a turbo 2000 block could take 340/50 Bhp!
I can feel my pockets emptying as I type...

My 99 UK RB5 is currently running at 305bhp with 301lbft of torque and im going to get my TD0518G turbo and injectors fitted next week along with a remap so im hoping for 350ish bhp maybe a little more ....I know a fella who has a UK MY99 car which has been running 355bhp/352lbft torque for this past few years and it has 150,000+ miles on standard internals although he does look after it religiously and services it often, so that maybe helps keep things going well too!!
If i get in or around 350bhp i will be happy with that cuz the car feels great at the min with 305bhp so any more is a bonus, and i dont wanna push the car too far anyway!!
Im worried though that the gearbox wont cope though so im looking into a six speeder but they're £2K+ nowadays even more in some places so i will have to go easy on my own box for now until I save up some reddies!!
