Default boost troubles

out last nite in my 93 import wrx when it suddenly stopped boosting properly normally hits just under 1 bar and i could only reach 0.5 bar stayed like that for awhile then cruising home at 70 on the motorway put my foot down boosted back up to just under 1bar, after a little while i was on full boost and it started fluctuating and dropped back down to 0.5 bar ??????????? would i be right in suspecting the boost solenoid?????

Yeah would be a good place to start, give it a clean out with some brake cleaner and check all the boost/vacuum pipes for security and splits ect

Your wastegate actuator operates at 0.5 bar. If you connect the 2 green test wires under the drivers side dash and turn your ignition on (do not start engine) then the solenoid should click constantly, if it does not then its in need of relacement or another clean

Could be a blockage in the pipe work, have you tried removing the pipes and blowing them thru with brake cleaner too? Also is the brass restrictor in the bottom pipe of the solenoid is clear

Crack on and adjust it then. The BCS by its very name controls the boost not the wastegate actuator. If you put a pipe from the wastegate to the turbo nipple and bypass the BCS then it should boost to max 0.5 bar, give it a try.
