Default Replacing Ignition Barrel

i need to replace the ignition barrel on my scooby m reg, my mate put his impreza key in my ignition and it got stuck, would start the car and unlock steering but wouldnt go back past accessory position. got the key out with a long pole and brute force and busted the ignition lock so i need to replace the barrel, is it easy to do, been quoted £116 incl vat for full lock set from a dealer. noticed shear bolts holding the barrel on, am i right in saying drill theese then i can remove the barrel

thanks in advance

the shear bolts can be removed by making an angled cut into them with a screw driver thenusing that cut in the shear bolt to act as a point of movement,so put the screwdriver into the cut you made and tap them round, thats what i did.

once that part is done, its quite straight forward.

i got a 2nd hand igntion barrel from a scrappers for £3 and opened it up and moved the tumblers around to suit my key, took about 4 hrs.

cheers
