My 1993 wagon (220ps standard) was quoted at 6.4 to 60 and I measured it at just over 6.5 seconds passenger hand timed when I first got it. I'd say it was accurate to say it was under 7 seconds for sure.
I've now added a FMIC, 440cc injectors and a TD05 at 1.1 bar (guessing 280bhp) and its doing 60 in under 6 seconds (timed on the stop clock at 5.7) but thats with some quite severe clutch slip.
With a decent clutch I think 5.5s is about realistic.
To get under 5 seconds would probably take upwards of 320bhp.

3.79 according to letstorquebhp (338bhp in a 1235 kerb weight classic). Personally, I reckon that's a bit optimistic, especially if I have any regard for my transmission, which I most certainly do!
When people ask me, I simply say that it will produce sub 5 seconds to 60 and just leave it at that!

Calculating what a car should be able to do can be very different from what it can/will actually achieve.
These are peoples best times recorded at a 0-60mph event I attended a few years ago. Big gap between expectation/calculations and real life?

Car stats calculator reckons 3.9 for my old type R with the spec it was running, it was timed at 4.5, so its not completey accurate. As said best is to just get it timed properly.

7.36? That's got to be a Sport or something............or the driver was hopeless!
My car is quoted a 4.3 i think but i'm not convinced it's that quick. But then again i'm not one for doing crazy launches. Only open it up when it's already rolling.
If only it would start better..................

i read with wrx its 6.9ish but when i took mine out it seemed less like 5-6. Mine might have been modded but i dont know. I read the sti is about a second quicker.
Funny if my car is 5-6 seconds.
This is a ride at disney 0-60 3 seconds.

Like Bob says....... it what you can do and not what someone thinks they can do. Remember proper timing equipment is essential..... using a stop watch and the speedo will be way off.
It is also not as easy at it looks..... and to get the best, you really have to be fairly abusive and have some form of skill.
Just for reference......
I did some testing at Dono race circuit in January 2008 (had the whole track to myself ). The track was un prepped and it was damp.
With well over 500bhp/lbft we couldnt better a 4.2s to 60, using 5250rpm and 1bar boost launch control. That was with a full tank of juice, a passenger and ZERO grip in 1st and 2nd. 60ft times on that day were in the high 2's
When the conditions are right I can certainly launch, with consistant 1.6's to 60ft attained throughout 2006 & 2007...... and that was WITHOUT launch control.
As this highlights, the conditions, car set-up and driver skill are just as important as power.
