Default Help Info needed: Rocker Cam Cover Up Down Gasket!

Hello.
Can anyone clear up this up for me.

Car been having the classic leak of oil dripping down, smoke at the traffic lights etc etc. This has definately been attributed to the Cam Cover Gasket on the right hand side so thats fine!

Phoned to get this part from a dealer and he asked if i wanted the upper or lower cam cover gasket. My knowledge is limited on this, i thought there was only one each side! I explained the problem with the engine and he said they had the bit on the shelf i needed: about £6.

Great i thought. But after thinking about it and from looking on the net i see the average cost is about £18-20 (for one). So, do i have the right bit? Is it the upper or lower then?

(And is the Rocker cover gasket and the cam cover gasket essentially the same thing as it seems to appear on the websites?)

Any info would be greatly received.

Cheers

Buy the kit to be sure, which is around £70, and includes gaskets for both sides incase the other one leaks in future.

I brought the kit for the drivers side of the engine the other week cost me about £45. I think the kit consisted of 1x rocker cover gasket, 2x spark plug gaskets and about 5 or 6 little round things, not sure what there called though. I think i've read on here that the little round things have been causing peoples leaks on them before.

The "6 little round things" are washer-gaskets for the bolts that hold the covers on.

If you buy the kit, you should also get the 2 X "Half Moons" which seal the holes in the side of the head, where they are line bored at the factory
