Been leaning towards a HKS (spf) induction kit. Would this be a good choice?

imo no if you do go for an induction kit APexi is a good choice but most people will tell you to stick an uprated panel filter in.

 

iv got a hks on mine and had nothing but troble with my maf going to put my air box bk on with a panle fillert

 

Sounds like it could be an expensive mistake then.

Mine has a TSL green panel filter which does a good job. (from TSL motorsport)

 

I use a KN panel filter in mine. Its a MY99 and they have notoriously weak MAF's and I have never had a problem with it. I know some people will say its got a light coating of oil on it and it will damage your MAF. All I can say to this is that Andy Forrest's stage 1 and 2 set ups both recommend this filter. Good enough for him, then its good enough for me
