You can't just up the boost mate. You'll want an Ecutek remap to insure that ignition and fueling parameters are correct. Get a 3 port boost solenoid on there, remap and you'll be running about 270ish bhp and similar torque. Above all, the car will run safely.

I agree with this 100%. Forget upping the boost and hope it doesn't go bang. The Ecutek route is by far the safest/cost effective way of upping the power/torque. These engines are very expensive to repair, far more expensive than the remap.

how much does a remap normaly cost? is it just the case of going to a local rolling road and getting it done there?

Personally I found that fitting a boost controller (manual ones are just fine) and upping the boost to 1/1.1bar works well.

Just buy something to keep an eye on knock, which is a good idea whichever route you choose, particularly since your model is prone to MAF problems.

Remaps start around £400+.

Also, if you are going to a RR they will be able to checking everything is ok with fueling as well as giving you a power reading.

If you go for an Ecutek remap its going to cost around £650-£700 including a new MAF. As stated above your MY and mine have weak MAF's, I had a new one fitted just as a precaution. If you decide to go down the Ecutek route, use a well known mapper, there are some top guys on here. It depends where you are based if you let us know we can point you in the right direction. Have your car 'Live Mapped' ie on the open road IMO its much better than a RR. As for power output, I had my MY99 remapped by Bob Rawle based in Swindon and he squeezed 281bhp 312lb/ft out of mine.

No. Your car already has 440s as standard which will cope into the low 300s.
