Default SIMTek Fault Codes

Guys

Does anybody know if with a Simtek ECU fitted you can still retrieve fault codes via the dash board? I have a really annoying miss fire issue at about 18-1900 RPM, it happens in all gears at low speeds between these revolutions. I have changed the plugs, HT leads and i have actually now bought a coilpack from a scrappers as it was £120 cheaper but waiting for it to turn up. I've tried NGK Iridiums currently back in the car, PFR7B's which were far worse than the Iridiums i found for producing miss fires at low revs and high revs, i have tried gaps at .55 .6 .65 .7 .75 and i'm still getting the same blasted problem. Strangely with the old leads and plugs back in the car it is driveable but i'm still getting a hesitation at this speeds and crappy boost as well which could well be explained by my wastegate solenoid failing.

Am i going to need a laptop and software to fix this issue? I'm in the south east and don't know of anyone around here who comes recommended that i could take it to for diags? Subaru won't touch it because their diag machine will no longer talk to my ecu

I have considered an earthing problem as well maybe from when the ECU was changed? I've read all about sensors and cleaning but just chucking money at the car at the moment and not really getting anywhere.

Any ideas

I thought the Simtek used the rev counter in a clever way to give out the ECU fault codes but I might be mistaken (as usual).

It uses the rev counter to display the map that you are currently on either 1 or 2 but not for diagnostics so i believe.

I've thought of that but the car was running fine on the Dyno and afterwards for about 2 days. The problem started when i did a plug and ht lead change 2 weekends ago. This is the only thing that i have done to the car, and now in its current state it is as it was when mapped although now it has a miss fire. It was mapped by JGM and he did a great job but he's a busy chap and can't always get hold of him. What would hesitation or misfires at very low revs normaly indicate?

Just spoke to him, really helpful but don't have that many options other than sending the car up there on a flatbed? He did mention the crank sensor and that it could be that but not in so many words. ??? If the car was miss firing at these speeds across different plugs and leads could it be something in the MAP?

i am not sure to be honest as I just get anything sorted by Alan Jeffery - Engine Tuner

if it was ok during mapping and for a time since, sounds more like a sensor has failed.

yeah no worries, thanks for the advice anyway, i checked that link out earlier but he's based in Devon .....sigh Croydon has everything but jap tuners it would seem, even my friend uses norris for his evo and they in wiltshire.. i'll try the coilpack that should hopefully arrive tomrrow but according to Mr Simpson he's never seen one fail on a 99 ever..... haha more money down the drain then Any ideas on fault codes for the Simtek?

I certainly have mate, i tried just a moment ago. I'm racking my brains for anything else that it could be, even igniter or primer, but apprently on my year the entire unit is inside the coilpack on the intake manifold. I have the original ecu sitting beside me now that i didn't manage to sell on here. Wondering whether its worth putting it back in??? I know my MAF was "cattletrucked" when i did my first run on the DYNO but this wasn't an issue becuse the SIMTek was going in, if i put it back on i could potentially do some damage?
