hi all, i need help on timing the engine (before dismantling)

im not sure which marks to line up on the cam cogs( is it the arrows or the other marks like the small lines like this( l+ ll) any help would be great, but pictures a big help..

I have a document on a cd in the post, PM me in a couple of days if you haven't got any help by then, can't remember off the top of my head.

 

It's the I + II marks that you use.

The I marks should line up with a cut in the casing & the II marks on the exhaust & Inlet cam should face each other. Make sure that you use the I mark on the crankshaft timing wheel & line that up with the mark on the crank sensor housing. (do not use the arrow mark)

fair play,im not shy on mechanics, rebuilt my gixxer engine etc etc do work on the scoob all mechanical but when i see this




Its one job im not touchin, look at it, done a few cam belts before bu on normal in line 4 lumps ha ha look at it !

Ita easier than most other cars. Plenty of access room etc.

 

a lot easier than they look loads of room to get in.
i would sooner do a scooby belt than a front wheel drive v6 and especially some of the french 4 pots like 2.0ltr clio's

 

I'll second that! I've seen enough good mechanics tearing their hair out on Clio 16v and Williams cambelt jobs. The Scoob's is easy in comparison.

 

but we need to distinguisg between a **** of a job 9clio) to a coont of a job (scoob)

whereas an orion or cav job is easy

its like timing up a lambo 64 valve to a 16 valve,the 16 valve can still be ****ish,but compared to the 64 valver,its easy !

bit like DIY Home sos, its easy when you know how huh
