As the title says really. I've got Ej257 with wiseco pistons and have done 550 miles running in and used about 1 litre of mineral oil. Anyone else use this kind of amount? Also how long should i run her in for?

Snap I have the same, did not use any oil running in, but currently using about a litre every 1000 miles. I'm not concerned as I know how hard I drive
I would probably change the mineral oil now for semi synthetic, then at 1000 miles put fully synthetic in.

From: South Wales, Scoobless, Type R is gone!
Done just over a 1000 miles run-in on mineral, then switch to Fully Synthetic and had a re-map, have done about 250 miles since and has use a small amount of oil, but i did have a small leak on the oil temp sender.
Will have to keep a close eye on the oil level judgeing by the fact most are using some with EJ257 conversions.

Len built mine.
Ran it on mineral for 1000 miles, then switched to semi for another 2500/3000 miles, then switched to fully (15/50) for the full map. (did that amount of miles in 6 weeks, couldn't get an earlier date for a map with Bob, and I pile the miles on the car anyway.
Since the remap I have done another 8 or 9000 miles and the engine hasn't used a drop of oil.

Mine was honed to suit . Was gonna go drop in but found that subaru have changed their spec. And A piston's come coming up smaller than B's. So stripped it down in the end . Work was carried out by a well known very good engine builder.

You need to discuss this specifically with your engine builder.
My Cosworth engine does consume oil, depending on how you drive it. It is perfectly acceptable and normal for my engine build, so it does not bother me.
Like I said, check with who ever built the engine...... just because a 2.5l uses oil it does not always mean (i.e. unless there is a fault) that it is a bad thing or an issue.

As webbie says, some oil useage is std and varies depending on the engine builders as to the tolerances that they use in the build and why they use them.
Mine was built by ScoobyMania/Area 52 Autosport and was run in on Millers running in oil for 500 miles during which time load was progressively increased to give the pistons, rings, bores a chance to work together. No noticeable oil useage at all during that period even though checked daily.
Changed oil and filter and ran on semi for 300 miles while load was pushed even higher and boost turned up.
Oil and filter change again but now on Motul 15/50 and changed twice since losing approx 1/2 litre in total during 'normal useage' over around 2k miles.
On track it uses a bit more, but that is to be expected and is the nature of a high performance engine.
