Raising boost on the 1998 ecu ?
I have a 1998 Forester T/tb auto, the year of the un-mappable ecu.
According to a recent rolling road test, the boost is .5bar and the car is running well, no issues. Only engine mods are some silicone hoses, sports cat downpipe and a Trust backbox.
Would it be a good idea or not to install an electronic boost controller and use this to give the option of the occasional use of raising the boost pressure a little ? Not going daft here, just a little tweak to say .6 or .65 bar for the odd time every now and then, not running permanently at this !
If I could have some informed and quality comment on this I would be most grateful as I am just not at all sure if it is a good idea or just plain impractical. I don't want a bust engine in 6 months time or to waste my money !
Thanks

Can't . Simple as that. No piggy back ecu available for the 1998 oem ecu. Only option is a complete new ecu package and that is just silly for me.
Re' the fuelling I believe that this would be OK on this car but I was going to go straight to a RR session and run any boost changes there to see what the results were and to identify any issues.
Thanks for the imput.

i didn't know that, you learn something new everyday.
options are int aht case, chuck a aftermarket ecu at it like a autronics or motec etc or chepest option is a apex.
