Were your gaskets ordered from the cars Vin No: or did the dealer match them by using another method?

Is the oil def coming from the cam cover or is it leaking from a cam seal & then running backwards along the bottom of the cover making it look like it's leaking?

i have fitted cheap ones and genuine ones to varies of imprezas and never had an issue as long as you make sure the mating surfaces are clean and no traces of sealant etc on them and not overtightened will be ok unless like ziggy and barretts said

some mentioned the build of pressure!! i took oil cap off, and their is pressure their but no smoke or oil - just air pressure..could that be the cause of gasket not sealing...ive removed the pipe to the breather aswell..

Well that would depend on how much pressure you have, the engine should produce a little bit, hence the reason for the breathers.

You could try blanking the breather hose off & running the engine with the side that's leaking open to atmosphere & see if it stops leaking.

Ref my first post.... are you sure you have the right gasket? just because it fits the cam cover does not mean it's correct. It could be that it is the right shape for your cover but it's not thick enough to meet the cyl head properly when the bolts are tightened. Also, did you fit all 3 gaskets or did you only replace the large one around the outside of the cover?

Are you using the sealant, and allowing it to go tacky before fitting the rocker cover? And then allowing it to set before filling with oil and running?

Had mine done at AS Performance a while back, and this was explained to me by Alyn at the time.

Yup that's the right gasket for the engine originally fitted by the factory.

The bolt should be tightened to 11 Nm or 8 Lbft (not very tight really)

You should make sure there is no old sealant left on the face of the cyl head, and you should put a small amount of fresh sealant across the top of the black 1/2 moon plugs where they meet the face of the head. You also need sealant where the front cam caps meet the head otherwise the oil will seep past the cam cover gasket at this point.
