More Power

More Power
Hello Everyone. I am new to Scoobys, and this i my first post. I have just bought a 1999 Turbo AWD, in lovely condition, with 70K on the clock.
It has a couple of STi bits on it, flaps, exhuast, and seats. A part from that, it has an induction kit, but basically standard.
Just wondered what the first steps of increasing power would be. Not too crazy, just want to get up around the 260-280 bhp mark
And also where would be the best place to get this work carried out? I'm in Rochester Kent.
Cheers and thanks for any help you can give me.
Thanks
Drew

i.e Ecutek, APexi, Simtek etc.
Ecutek is the cheapest as it retains the original ECU.
I Ecutekd my MY00 and it cost me £500+VAT.
Have a look at JGMs website quoted above. Prices through him on first page.
e.g. Ecutek £550, Apexi £795 etc.

Bin the induction kit, doesnt help as you just draw heat into the engine instead of cold air, ie nice sound, slower car.
Replace with a decent panel filter (still has nice sound and more power to boot!)
Oh and induction kits can play havoc with the MAF sensor on 99/00 cars, another reason not to have one
So full decat and panel filter, you dont need a fuel pump for that, should give you about 270bhp, check with your insurance co first, and id do the brakes before anything else, they suck.

I had my MY99 remapped by Bob Rawle, in Swindon. I have a KN panel filter and a cat back exhaust. He is very good, mine has 68K on the clock and he squeezed 281bhp and 312 lb/ft out of mine, its totally transformed the car. As yours is also a MY99 think about factoring in the price of a new MAF. Total price of both remap and MAF should be around £650-£750 depending who does it. Its worth every penny
