sti ecu won't start on a uk because the crank and cam sensor position pins are swapped and the fuel pump pin is moved.. this is to stop someone doing what you are trying.. this is why it won't start.. however.. you can alter them
the pinsouts for the ecu are on my website
I think the key code will then not be an issue as it is not in the jap sti ecu..
The reason you shouldn't do this though is the sti engine has different heads, valve, cams, pistons and rods.. therefore higher rpm rev limit and a stronger engine, the fuelling and ignition are all different etc etc
you really need the car mapped for the mods

thanks for all your help i'm going to give it a try for a little while before i get a new ecu, i have heard mixed reports about what it will do was talking with a guy the other day who has done the same expect the uprated fuel pump (which i still have to do) and he has been running his for nearly 2 years without any problems. if mine goes pop hey ho won't need to discuss a rebuild with the wife for more power it will just have to be done
