Default Removal of dumpvalves

Is there any benefit/ detrimental effect from completely removing the dumpvalve? I've heard about quite a few scoob running with out one, so I just thought I'd ask the question.

I've had to take the inlet manifold off my MY99 UK Turbo as the turbo intake pipe has split, so been playing with the idea as the manifold is off to reverse it. The car also has a front mount I/C, hence the question

You'll need a strong turbo!

If you are still running the TD04 I don't think its hard enough!

I recently fitted an HKS dump valve to my car. Took it out for a blast and all i could here was turbo stall no woosh at all got home opened the bonnet and the pipe to the inlet manifold had come off. The turbo stall was ok but rather quiet may be better on a more tuned car though.
I will be sticking with the woosh to protect my turbo

I ran my RA without a DV for about a month,as i cracked the DV pipe on the intercooler pipe. It ran fine, but did seem to loose it's edge a bit,but that may have been in my mind.

No, I haven't asked Frayz as I wanted to get several views and form my own conclusions really mate.

To be honet, it's just lazyness on my part as I plan to reverse my inlet manifold, and in doing so, the DV outlet would be pointing through the bonnet.

To my way of thinking, running with out a DV being a standard recirc or VTA, the pressure from the front mount I/C will be greater than the exhaust gas pressure going through the turbo when changing gear so with the pressure differential, would cause the turbo to stall, hence wanting to know people's views

Fair enough Paul, there have been quite a few threads on here about this, i think it's split 50/50 as some people love it and some don't

I'm still in 2 minds.

If Frayz wants to comment, I'd value his opinion, after all, he does dabble with engines for a living
