Hi, maybe you don't want to hear this but I was told to remove this oil from my MY99 when I was having it remapped. Bob Rawle told me, in no uncertain terms to get it out asap! He recommended Shell Helix Ultra 5/40 for my MY99. It seems to run really well on this and doesn't burn a drop. If you can take it back and get your money back then either buy on line or get to a Shell garage and buy some off the shelf, it's not cheap but it's good. When you do the oil change don't forget to pre-fill the filter, this avoids oil starvation on start up.

A few others on here have said they don't recommend Castrol Magnatec on here as well. Not sure why though.
PFR6B
PFR7B - I think is the one everyone recommends on here. Saying that, that was when I was looking for my WRX, might be different for my STI?

Use a quality synthetic such as Silkolene Pro S or Pro R, Motul 300V, Fuchs Titan Suprsyn or Millers XFS. 10W40 would be fine in a car the age of yours. If mileage is getting over 80k then maybe 10W50. With no or minimal mods these will be fine and I'd only recommend going to 15W oils with serious power mods. Lower mile and newer cars run great on 5W, but no lower than 40 rated.
DO NOT use any oil treatments, it will compromise the formulation of the synthetic oil and offers no benefit anyway. If these additives were any good they'd be in the quality oil formulations anyway.

15/40 Magnetec is the "cheap" member of the Magnetec family for "older, high mileage cars"
The ZX1 will do no harm although its effect is probably more "placebo" than real.

As above regarding oil treatments. As I mentioned pre-fill the filter, it takes quite a bit. When topping up the oil only put in 4ltrs including what you put in the filter. Check the levels and then re check before topping up any further. Just below the Max mark is perfect, be very careful not to over fill as this causes all sorts of problems. As for the plugs, IMHO, NGKPFR6B's are what you need, the 7's run cooler and are used when running more bhp. Always re gap the plugs to 0.7 as they rarely come out of the box with the right gap!
