Default 05 STI UK Boost behavior

I have a 2005 STI UK which feels a little flat to drive lately. I fitted a boost gauge (connected to the BOV) and registered different readings in every gear. 2nd produces 16 psi then dropping instantly to 14, 5th gear produces 19/20 psi dropping instantly to about 16 psi.
3 questions really,
is the higher boost in higher gears normal (is that what the rod/switch attached to the gearlever under the console is for?)
Is it normal to have this "overboost" behavior?
Do the numbers sound normal for a widetrack STI UK thats standard except for a H&S exhaust with non resonated centre?
