I remember reading that the ECU goes into Limp Home Mode when it has a fault. Does anyone know how I could make the ECU do this without causing any damage. I know it sounds a strange thing to do but I want to build an anti hijack device that lets the car do 200m in Limp Home Mode then cuts the fuel.

Why in Limp mode? surely this might add suspision that something is wrong? would it not be better to do 200m in normal mode then cut?

I am considering something similar myself if I manage to find the time to do it..

Make a nice job of it and you could sell it on?

Good luck

The reason for Limp Home Mode is to limit the RPM and if my car is hijacked I will be off in the other direction straight away so I am not worried about raising their suspisions. I will also set it to put the hazards on and sound a siren inside the car.

Just to add to this...there is a company doing smoke alarms, by that I mean that it fills the car with "non damaging" smoke.

Think I saw it in back of "Banzai" or "Japanese" magazine.

Good move if you incorporate that!

Cheers, Moles Dad.

Limp home mode in the Scoob is to diable the boost solenoid - this limits you to about .7 bar. Still quite quick.....

Ok I like the idea of disabling the boost solenoid, but I don't know where it is.

under the bonnet, on the left hand side as you face the engine. A black cover with two twiddly things on it. the boost solenoid is linked with pressure hose to a t-piece, which goes to the wastegate and the turbo nipple.

See dawes threads, many of them have a picture.

Question

excuse my ignorance but wouldn't it be easier to just buy
a clifford with "anti jack" and save butchering the car ?

I could do that but the urge to fiddle with the car is becoming hard to ignore.
