Dropped valve? 03 JDM sti
Hi all,
A friends car - Timing belt was changed 2 days before, on the first occasion of proper driving the car suddenly developed a bad 'miss', stopped immediatly and noticed that the engine is rocking drastically in the bay ( side to side ) at idle. If you rev it slightly the rocking goes away, but the car is almost undrivable, as soon as you move is has this 'miss'. Revs freely at idle upto around 3k where you sometimes hear a metal tap that to me sounds like the piston hitting the valve back up ( not big ends ).
Taking the covers off tomorrow to double check the timing belt is fitted correct ( done at subaru 2 days ago ), and carry out a compresion check which will identify if a valve has failed.
Anyone heared of this? after searching some people have burnt out a valve and had exact same symptoms, but this is normally because of bad fuel. This is always run on T99 or Vpower, this occasion Vpower.
My moneys on a dropped valve/ bent valve / something else valve related causing zero compression. What you reccon ??
